Amazing Ways to Easily Grow Your Instagram Followers
Instagram to me was more of an app for show-offs, posting beautiful pictures of people on vacation, lunch dates, driving beautiful cars, etc but over the years it has grown to become a powerful marketing tool for businesses and brands. Generally, social media is the world in one place without borders, and your only chance of reaching out to millions of people, without breaking the bank. According to Statista in 2018, Instagram had reached an amazing mark of 1billion active users monthly, with over 500million active users daily. You’re probably thinking, “500Million active users daily? That’s cool! I can get 100k Instagram followers, rack up 60k expression, 12k likes, and 2,500 comments.” That’s very possible and another thing that’s possible is getting drowned by the activities of 500million active users and not getting noticed if you’re not taking the right steps. Answer the questions below to know if you’ve been doing the right thing.
How Consistently do you post on Instagram?
It can be very difficult to keep up sometimes, coming back to Instagram every day, to post something just to remain relevant. The good news is, you don’t have to, and not advisable that you post every day but frequently enough to not be forgotten and create consistency, that allows fans/audience know when to expect something from you. With the help of Social Media scheduling tools like Buffer and Hootsuite, you can keep the consistency. Pick a day in a month, create your posts, use one of the tools above to schedule them to be posted on set days and time.
Do you choose Quantity over Quality on Instagram?
Remember I said you shouldn’t post everyday. According to Neil Patel, a Social Media Expert, “If you make a habit of posting several times a day and then transition to only a few times a week, you will start to lose followers and generate less engagement per post.” Consistency wins, but can’t say the same for quantity over quality. Want to consistently deliver quality?
- Before posting, always have the end in mind. Ask yourself, “what value am I passing to my audience?” (Pick a Niche and evolve around it)
- Increase your photo game. For more Instagram worthy pictures, turn to apps like Snapspeed, VSCO, and lightroom.
- Inspire and Motivate
- Discus new industry trends.
- Answer questions
- Put a face to your brand
How is your Engagement Game on Instagram?
Do you just post and ghost? Quality contents attract likes, comments and can even lead to gaining new followers but It doesn’t stop at posting quality content. You have to engage with those engaging with your posts and relevant audience such as people within your target audience and influencers in your industry. Engage with your past clients, don’t ever underestimate the power of word of mouth or the possibility of getting hired for a new gig from them.
You’ll need more than your past clients to succeed. Searching for users through hashtags that are related to your industry is an easy way to find new potential clients to engage, and convert. I gained 50 new followers the first day I understood how to use hashtags to my advantage. Come with me to the next point.
Do you use Hashtags correctly?
I made this mistake myself. I will look at trending topics and use the hashtags related to them, even without investigating its relevance to my industry. You should never do that. As much as this might get you on the faces of people, it may not convert to gaining followers or sales. You want to use hashtags relevant to your industry and you can find this by
- Looking at your competitors
- Spying on industry influencers’ tags
- Using the IG search feature
- from apps like Hash Tags and Hashtag Inspector.
When it comes to hashtags there are a few rules and tricks to have in mind.
- You cant use more than 30 hashtags in a post.
- Don’t repeat the same Hashtags too often (always juggle).
- Avoid Hashtags with millions of posts, you’ll drown(10,000 to 500,000 is fine)
- Despite having the privilege of using 30hashtags per post, don’t use it. Your content won’t travel far(6 is great).
How Powerful Do You Think The Instagram Story Feature Is?
Instagram tried to buy Snapchat for this feature and when SnapChat refused to sell, it was introduced on Instagram. Another fact is, twitter took a survey earlier this year, to test the acceptability of the feature on the app. There is a reason all these platforms want it, so use it. A post on your story per day should do the magic.
For stand out stories to capture the attention of your audience, you can turn to Instagram Story apps like StoryArt, Designlab, or Storyluxe for help.
Some ways to use Instagram Stories:
- Share a sneak peek.
- Share mini-trainings about hot topics.
- Share your recent feed post (just in case they missed it earlier).
- Answer questions.
- Promote a recent blog post.
- Use stickers, e.g., take polls, ask questions, take quizzes, and include sliders for higher engagement.
Are You Aware That You Can Collaborate on Instagram?
- Instagram Story Take Over
This the act of guest posting on someone’s story. You necessarily don’t have to have access to each other’s account, simply create a post that will resonate with someone else’s audience, send it to the person, and post your partner in collaboration’s content on your page too.
This has become the trend and people who use this method commands large following and engagement. It is pretty simple, all you’re doing is rewarding your audience.
- Flash sales
Combine your product with another person’s product, and offer them on discount sales. The same thing is done by your collab partner.
Interested in collaborating, fill this form and you’ll be matched with other users for collaborations as explained above. It will only take a minute
Do You Assume What you Think might Resonate?
Kindly leave your telepathic gifts out of this and ask your audience what they want. You can make intelligent guesses as to what your audience wants to see, but you will get a clearer view/understanding when you ask questions. Use surveys and polls in this case and also remember to throw in a benefit for participants, else, you won’t get enough response. Giveaways and Free services or materials, will do the magic.
